Located in the heart of Naples on Via S. Eframo Vecchio, Tripperia O'Russ Napoli is a true gem for lovers of traditional Neapolitan cuisine, specializing exclusively in tripperia — the art of preparing and serving tripe and other offal dishes. This family-owned restaurant invites you on a culinary journey that embraces the bold, rustic flavors of southern Italy, making it a must-visit destination for adventurous food enthusiasts and locals alike.
At Tripperia O'Russ, the menu is a love letter to authentic Neapolitan food culture, focusing on dishes like Zuppa Di Soffritto — a rich, fragrant stew brimming with tender tripe and slow-cooked vegetables that evoke the comforting warmth of a homemade meal. The Spaghetti Con Soffritto perfectly marries al dente pasta with the deep, savory notes of soffritto sauce, offering a hearty, soul-satisfying plate. Among the standout offerings is the Trippa Con Limone, where the bright essence of lemon beautifully balances the rustic texture of tripe, creating a vibrant and memorable flavor profile.
For those wanting to dive deeper into tradition, plates like Trippa Con Fagioli Con Il Sugo Con Patate and Trippa Alla Buonocore provide a masterclass in Neapolitan heritage — hearty, full-bodied, and served with freshly baked pane that’s perfect for soaking up every last drop of sauce. To finish your meal authentically, the customary sip of Marsala wine is the ideal way to complement these rich flavors while reflecting on the culinary craftsmanship behind each dish.
The atmosphere here is intimate and unpretentious — a cozy enclave where you’re welcomed with genuine Neapolitan warmth and passion. Ciro and Gennaro, the heart and soul behind Tripperia O'Russ, serve each guest with a smile and infectious enthusiasm, adding a personal touch that elevates the dining experience beyond just food. The setting is small and vibrant, buzzing with the quiet hum of Naples itself, making every visit feel like stepping into a family home where food is an act of love.
Many patrons rave about the unique and unforgettable taste of the tripe here. One visitor, László Csiszer, noted returning with friends and family, insisting that the trippa fagioli and trippa al limone are absolute must-tries. Alessandra Tritto highlights the authenticity, describing how the knowledgeable staff explain each dish with care, turning a meal into a memorable cultural experience. Though the language barrier might pose a small challenge, the illustrated menu and friendly ambiance more than compensate, as pointed out by Csaba Zahorán, a self-proclaimed tripe lover who called this his best decision during his stay in Naples.
This is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of Naples’ culinary soul, an immersion into tastes and traditions that might feel like an acquired taste but are truly a portal to the city’s heart. Whether you’re a seasoned fan of offal or looking to explore authentic Italian flavors far beyond pizza and pasta, Tripperia O'Russ Napoli promises an unforgettable dining adventure filled with passion, flavor, and genuine Neapolitan charm.
Not the first time here. I took my friends and my son to Napoli because the tripperia. A family-owned little restaurant with fantastic trippa. Tried all of them already. Must try the trippa fagioli e trippa al limone.
It's a little cute place in Napoli central area, it does exclusively sales tripe , centopelle (cow stomach) , pig foot and so on. It might be an acquired taste but it was actually amazing and something very typical to try . The guy explained each piece and made it an amazing meal, you can have it with sauce, soup (with wet bread inside, defo worth a try) or potatoes
I’m a huge tripe fan, so it was no question to try is somewhere during my stay in Napoli. To come here was the BEST decision. Lovely place with great selection of tripe varieties. Language is a pretty big barrier here but the menu has pics too so it’s not a big problem. I checked the menu in advance so i alredy knew that i wanted to try Tris di Trippa. It was super amazing, every section was unbelievable. It was sooo delicious and the texture was brilliant too. Thank you for this amazing experience! Grazie!
Love this place! I went to another tripperia today .. walked in and was like NOPE .. walked the 35 minutes back to here for the second time this week. It's usually pretty steady so the product is fresh. The Trippa en Sugo is amazing ...nice pepper bite ... Better than ones I had in Rome! Friendly staff, the one man working cash can be a bit gruff but no biggie ...the food and service is great and I'll be back again probably tomorrow lol I want to try the tripe and potatoes Highly recommend this place!!
Ciro and Gennaro are the typical Neapolitans who serve you with a smile because it is in their nature. You can see the passion in every thing they do. If you love tripe this is the best place in Napoli to enjoy it.
Im from Chile and loved the place. The trippa is deliciously prepared and the taste reminds me of a home meal. You can cut the trippa with a spoon, which is no small feat. Tried the tri di trippa and the trippa with limone, all delicious. If you like this kind of food, you must visit, and if you don't like it, give it a chance, you might just start liking it.
Zuppa di soffritto is the bomb! For someone like me who loves offals, this is perfect. The strong spices make it so flavorful and there’s no gamey smell at all. Definitely a must try.
It was the first time for us to try this local taste. We liked it so much. We tried regular one (12 euro per kg) and also one with the tomato sauce(4 euro medium size), both was so delicious but one with the tomato sauce was our favorite. No bad smell, and seems quite clean.
